Chef Antoine Gras holds a Michelin star, awarded in 2024 and retained in 2025, and cooks precise, ingredient-led dishes: seared langoustine with a chilled vinaigrette, whitefish from Lake Geneva with silky gourd purée.
The room is all wood, stone and mirrors, elegant without being stiff, and the sommelier Magali Delalex makes a real case for Savoie wines. This is a hard reservation in peak season, so book six to eight weeks ahead.
L'Atelier d'Edmond
Out in the quieter hamlet of Le Fornet, close to the cable car, L'Atelier d'Edmond has been Val's benchmark for high-end Savoyard cooking for years. Think barbecued Savoie trout, local lamb and Alpine produce handled with a light touch.
Dinner is the meal to plan around, but you do not have to spend a fortune to taste the kitchen: the adjoining bistrot serves a more sensibly priced lunch that is one of the best-value serious meals in the resort.

Le Signal
Built in 1973 at the top of the Fornet cable car at 2330 metres, Le Signal was named Best Mountain Restaurant at the European Snow Awards in 2008 and again at the World Snow Awards in 2015. The kitchen leans on sauced dishes, diots (Savoyard sausages) and excellent polenta, a welcome change from the raclette-and-tartiflette circuit.
You can reach it on skis or with a pedestrian pass, which makes it easy for a mixed group. Get there before the lunch rush and take a table on the terrace for the view down the valley.
L'Edelweiss
Just above Le Fornet, L'Edelweiss is the hearty, sunny terrace lunch the resort is quietly famous for, right down to the giant burgers that regulars come back for. It ranks among the most searched and most reviewed places in Val d'Isère.
